All Natural BBQ Chicken

Barbecue chicken is one of my favorite foods! I could eat it every day and it’s a must have for every picnic or get together. However, most store-bought chicken today is laden with chemicals, antibiotics and additives, and many bottled barbecue sauces aren’t any better. The good news is, it’s very easy to make even the slightest changes to make a much healthier version of this American classic.

BBQ Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 - 4 oz. all-natural chicken breasts
  • 1 - 15 oz. can organic tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 cup organic tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 5-6 drops liquid Stevia
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 Tbs. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbs. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Clean chicken and place in a gallon ziploc bag.
  2. Mix together remaining ingredients well to form barbecue sauce.
  3. Cook sauce over medium high heat until it boils.
  4. Return to simmer and reduce sauce down until it thickens to desired consistency.
  5. Scoop half of sauce into the ziploc bag and refrigerate overnight (if possible) or at least 2 hours.
  6. Grill chicken until meat is no longer pink, brushing with remaining sauce until finished.
  7. Top with any sauce you have remaining and enjoy!
