Green Supreme Smoothie

Green smoothies are so popular right now, with super healthy ingredients that make you feel amazing! Some of them though, are so green, they aren’t very appetizing to newbie health nuts. This recipe is a great place to start when you want to start adding healthier foods to your diet and hide those veggies in something delicious. It’s one of my favorites and it’s great for those warm days ahead. Enjoy!

Green Supreme Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 medium Granny Smith apple, cored
  • 1/2 medium avocado
  • 3/4 cup liquid egg whites (or 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened, vanilla almond milk
  • 1 handful raw baby spinach leaves
  • 3-4 drops liquid stevia, or 3 scoops powdered stevia
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2-1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a blender and blend well.
  2. If the mixture is not mixing well and needs more liquid, add small amounts of almond milk until you reached the desired consistency.

Tips: For easier blending in single serving blenders, layer the ingredients in the following order: apple, milk, spinach, egg whites, avocado, stevia and cinnamon and ice. If you put the ice at the top of the blender, it doesn’t blend as well and leaves ice chunks in your smoothie, so you want it to be the first thing that hits the blade. Also, if you put the spinach at the top, it does’t blend as well and you can be left with large leaves, which are not very appetizing to drink.

You can also adjust the stevia amount and sweeten to taste. Once you get comfortable with the recipe, feel free to vary the ingredients to make it your own.

Side note: Don’t be afraid to use avocado in your smoothies. I use it in a lot of recipes because it makes them sooo creamy, and thick, it’s like a milkshake!
